Monsterwax’s Dinosaur Galaxy Kickstarter campaign is set to end tomorrow (June 11 at 9:30 PM). The company’s Kurt Kuersteiner tells he’s pumped to add artists Todd Marshall and Luis Rey to the roster as one of the campaign’s final stretch goals. Marshall and Rey are top paleoartists. Marshall’s work has been featured in academic science journals, magazines, television specials, video games, and documentaries around the world including National Geographic and Science Illustrated. Rey’s work has been featured in books from Usborne Publishing, Kingfisher, Wayland Publishers, Marvel Comics (“Dinosaurs: A Celebration”) and many others. On a somewhat unrelated note, Rey is also an authority on Led Zeppelin bootlegs and has authored a book on the subject in addition to many volumes on dinosaurs.
NSU spoke with Kuersteiner about these renown artists and their involvement in the series. Kuersteiner explains Marshall will contribute the Jurassic era section of the card series while Rey is doubling the Cretaceous period cards. Kuersteiner elaborates “That’s dozens of cards each! This is going to be dinosaur sized series with 110 base cards, four different lenticular cards, a half dozen prehistoric animal cards and another half dozen Liquid Leviathans, plus (and if we reach our $10,000 stretch goal) ‘Forty Finest’ sketch cards (with 40 of the favorite sketch cards in their own sub set).” The extras will add some extra production time to the series but Kuersteiner informs it will only be a couple of weeks and will push the release from June to July. Not bad given the tremendous contributions both artists will add to the series.
